DSC is right, the timing mark for the crank is @ 60 degrees. It is best to remove the front cover. One important step that is often overlooked is to rotate the engine two complete revolutions to verify the timing is correct. More than 50% of the time I put the 2.4L exhaust cam one tooth late. The 2.7L is more critical.

#1 · Oct 16, 2021 Hi folks, I replaced my water pump and needed to remove all the chain guides and the Chain itself. I set everything up to TDC on #1 and ensured timing marks were all llined up. I only removed the Right Hand Cam Sprocket in order to remove the chain. The FSM States the CAM will move clockwise when the sprocket bolts are removed.

Using Crankshaft Pulley Holder (8191), hold crankshaft pulley and remove center bolt. Using a 3-jaw puller, remove crankshaft pulley. Remove upper intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD.
